Trinette Reed, behind the scenes for Spa Magazine

Photographers Trinette Reed and  Chris Gramly recently shot the cover and feature article for Spa Magazine at luxury resort and destination spa Miiamo in Sedona, Arizona.   Miiamo was awarded the best destination spa in the world by Travel and Leisure in 2009.  They spent a week in Sedona covering the feature and the cover.  They shot architecture, food, landscapes, portraits, lifestyle and spa still lifes.  They had a fabulous time collaborating with the Spa Magazine creative team and the Miiamo staff treated them like royalty.  Miiamo was an inspiring place.

Women's History Month. Our History.

This week as Emily and I celebrate our 12 years in business together we've been strolling down memory lane. We've had some amazingly successful years and we've had a few lean ones too, just like everyone! It is both the blessing and the curse of self employment. Through it all Emily and I have remained friends and we congratulate ourselves for still being here and still representing relevant and creative people.
Any agent knows that it is a revolving door business...someone walks out as someone else walks in. For the most part we've been lucky and have had solid, successful, long term relationships with our photographers. However, we've made a few mistakes along the way, representing a few people that we actually did not like very much....it is such a relief to make the call and terminate those contracts.  We've also had our hearts broken one or 2 times when photographers that we really liked, believed in and worked hard for decided to rep themselves or find other representation. It takes time to recover but we always have....and always with our humor and friendship intact.
Twelve years is a long time and with the help of google we are able to see what our past photographers have been up to....a few  have had success and others not so much. Here are some photographers we've worked with in the past. Shannon Greer, Anthony Elgort, Arthur Belebeau, Frank Schramm, Gemma Comas, Aimee Herring, Tom Wool, Tom Contrino, Eddie Collins, Cathy Crawford, Jeanette Beckman, Deborah Ory, Jenny Acheson, David Bashaw, Robert Milne, Adriano Fagundes, Rachel Olsson and Caren Alpert.
And here is the future of O'Gorman/Schramm. Please download and take a look and let us know what you think. The new site is due any day.

Julia Cameron, no relation to Evelyn

Women's History Month continued:
For  British photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, photography was an art form, she did not need to make a living from her photos and therefore she was not constrained by following conventional techniques. Julia Cameron sought to produce photos in which the emotional state of the model was of highest importance. We wonder how she would fare in today's market ?

Evelyn Cameron, Pioneer Women and Photographer of Nature

Evelyn Cameron moved to the remote Badlands of Montana with her husband in  1899, there they owned a ranch, they grew vegetables and they did what they could to make a living  and stay in Montana. Like so many that came after her, Evelyn's love of photography turned into a business. She took pictures of friends, the landscape and the wildlife that lived in the high plains.

Evelyn bought her first camera by mail, it was a dry plate, glass negative 5 x7 Graflex camera. Cowboys, and passing ranchers would stop by Evelyn's ranch to have their pictures taken by her.  She would also take off for days on end , on horse back, with her heavy camera in her lap, to take pictures in remote locations, and to take pictures of pioneer women in their homes and on their ranches. Much of what we know about true pioneer women we know thru the photographs of Evelyn Cameron.

After her death all of Evelyn Cameron's glass negatives sat in a basement for over half a century until they were discovered in the '70s and subsequently a book by Donna Lucey and a PBS documentary have followed. Here is a nice blog about Evelyn's life

We are anxiously awaiting some additional photography before Drifting Creatives can finish our site and we can finally introduce our new look, new work and new talent. In the meantime we decided that a new splash page was better than looking at last year's autumn leaves for even another day....it's almost spring after all.
